Emergency Management Program
The CRESA Emergency Management Program deals with all
aspects of disasters within the community. Our Emergency
Management staff work on projects related to:
- Preparedness
- writing and exercising emergency plans, teaching citizens
about personal preparedness
- Mitigation
- finding ways to reduce the damage from disasters by
taking smart prevention steps in advance
- Response
- operating the Emergency Operations Center during a
disaster to help emergency responders work more effectively
- Recovery
- helping the community get back on its feet after a
disaster
Efficient
operations
Most
jurisdictions the size of Clark County have multiple emergency
management offices, usually with several at the city level,
and then one at the county. CRESA has a consolidated emergency
management office that serves all the cities within Clark
County as well as the unincorporated areas of the county.
This reduces the need for additional office space, which cuts costs. It also allows staff to work more efficiently since there are no redundancies in staff functions. They can coordinate an efficient regional response to a disaster since they actively work with all the agencies and emergency responders in Clark County that are involved in disasters.
Emergency
Management staffing levels at CRESA are half what they
are in other similar jurisdictions, yet our staff consistently
deliver an outstanding level of service to the community.
