Training and Exercises

Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency periodically hosts special trainings or exercises on Emergency Management related topics, like training for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Please see the Clark Regional EOC Training section below for more information.

CRESA's Emergency Management office also serves as the link to gain state or federal approval for external trainings. Our office collects the required registration form and signs the authorizing signature block to affirm that the individual is eligible to take the course. Please see Washington State Emergency Management Division at http://emd.wa.gov/training/training_index.shtm for more information and applications. For most state trainings, you will need to fill out a Washington State Training Application for federal training, federal form 75-5 is required. Training announcements will include descriptions and the registration form you will need, along with instructions on where to send your paperwork. After completing your forms please forward them to CRESA Emergency Management, 710 W. 13th Street, Vancouver, WA 98660 or email any questions to CRESA.Emergency.Management@clark.wa.gov.

If you are looking for a course not listed here, please go directly to the "Other Emergency Management Training Links" in the lower right column of this page.

Clark Regional EOC training

Several times a year, CRESA provides training in EOC operations. The National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses are now prerequisites for the EOC training and should be completed prior to your first EOC course. Anyone assigned to EOC duties at the Clark Regional EOC must participate in an initial Introduction to EOC Course and section-specific training to prepare them for their EOC duties. For experienced staff, an EOC section-specific Refresher Training is required annually in order to stay on top of recent changes and updates to the EOC systems. All staff are encouraged to participate in an EOC exercise or drill annually if possible.

During the year, section-specific training is offered in Planning, Logistics, Support Staff and Agency Representative. There are also opportunities for citizens to play a role in Planning, Logistics or Support Staff. Please view our recruitment video to learn more about the different EOC positions EOC video (25 MB, WMV file).

To obtain the latest schedule of training classes or inquire about volunteer opportunities, please call (360) 737-1911 X 3962 or email us at CRESA.Emergency.Management@clark.gov.

National Incident Management System (NIMS) Courses

Federal requirements applying to first responders and EOC staff have resulted in the following prerequisites for EOC training: IS-100 and IS-700 must be completed prior to taking your EOC courses. Please forward your course completion certificates to CRESA.Emergency.Management@clark.wa.gov or bring them with you to your first EOC class. Additional courses recommended but not required are IS-200 and IS-800-B. Al of these classes are available online.

Advanced NIMS courses IS-300 and IS-400 are classroom courses. Please see the Northwest Regional Training Center (NWRTC) site for a list of available classes around the area.
