Emergency Medical Services Program

The EMS Program at CRESA is responsible for several important functions related to Emergency Medical Services in Clark County. Our program work involves ambulance services contract administration, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), uniform EMS regulation, and EMS public education.

Assuring high quality EMS in Clark County

CRESA's EMS program is all about making sure the citizens of Clark County receive the high quality emergency medical services that they deserve. Specific activities in each area of responsibility include:

Ambulance services contract administration
Negotiate contract terms for EMS District #2 ambulance services with an emphasis on quality services and cost containment, provide a forum for a fair and impartial contract award process, monitor ambulance contractor activities (including response times) to ensure contract compliance, enforce and collect fines for any instances of unacceptable performance and make those funds available as grant monies for prevention/public education activities.

Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)
Provide standardized EMD training to all new dispatchers, regularly monitor and review emergency medical calls to ensure protocol compliance, provide ongoing EMD education, track dispatcher continuing education and recertification requirements, and ensure that CRESA meets or exceeds all industry standards for accreditation by the National Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch (NAEMD).

Uniform EMS regulation
Participate in EMS quality assurance/improvement reviews and discussions, assist in uniform EMS regulation to ensure a consistent standard of care throughout the county that meets or exceeds the state laws.

EMS public education
Coordinate the EMS Public Education Program. The EMS Public Education Program was established to reduce illness and injuries in the community and enhance the public or first responder's ability to provide emergency medical care. Program staff also administer grant funds to sponsor or subsidize those efforts, as well as provide information directly to the public at special events.
