Shelter-In-Place Kit


Prepare a kit ahead of time and put it in a convenient place in the room you have selected to Shelter-In-Place.  Make sure other family members know about the kit in case you are not home when an emergency occurs.

A battery operated radio and extra batteries.

A flashlight and extra batteries.

Heavy plastic sheeting, scissors, and duct tape to seal doors, windows and vents. (Precut and label the sheeting to save time)

A first aid kit.

Towels and washcloths.
Drinking water in closed containers. Don't forget to change this water from time to time: at least once every six months.

Magazines, books, and activities to keep children entertained.
